The Eye Care Trio

WISEQUEST EYE CARE

The Eye Care Trio

Capsules · cooling patches · eye cream — one taken with meals, one worn overnight, one carried with you. A nine-herb classical formula and one shared botanical core, arranged as a nine-month routine.

  • One shared botanical core
  • Applied around the eye — never in it
  • cGMP-certified manufacturing
  • Built on the classical organ clock
Botanical still life for the WiseQuest Eye Care Trio

Where this range comes from

In traditional Chinese medicine, the eyes are not treated as a part unto themselves. The classics say the liver opens into the eyes, and that the kidneys govern the bones and generate marrow, which reaches the brain and travels on to the eyes. On the classical organ clock, the liver channel is said to be strongest at chou hour (1–3 AM) and the kidney channel at you hour (5–7 PM). That view — the eyes as the end of a longer chain — is the idea these three formulas were built on.

  • Long days at a screen
  • Late finishes and early starts
  • Bright sun, wind, and dry air
  • Contact lenses and long commutes

It is also why modern life features so heavily in how we designed the routine. The tradition assumed a slower day than most people now have:

  • Screens are close, bright, and constant in a way nothing in the classical texts anticipated.
  • Rest, in the tradition, was the other half of the practice — and it is the half most schedules cut first.

Huangdi Neijing

All flows to the eyes

“The essence of the five organs and six bowels all flows upward into the eyes.” It is one of the oldest lines in Chinese medicine about the eyes, and it is the reason this is a set of three rather than a single product — the tradition never approached it from one direction only.

Three products, three roles, no overlap.

One botanical core, formulated three different ways — because each one fits a different part of the day.

  • Goji Berry + Chinese Yam

Two of the most recognizable tonic foods in Chinese tradition, where they are described as nourishing the liver and kidneys. Goji is a natural source of zeaxanthin.

  • Chrysanthemum + Cassia Seed

The classic pairing in eye-focused herbal formulas, used together for centuries. Both are natural sources of plant flavonoids.

  • Astragalus + Angelica Sinensis

A traditional qi-and-blood pairing. Astragalus provides astragalus polysaccharides; angelica is a natural source of ferulic acid.

  • Poria

A long-used fungus in classical formulas, traditionally paired with tonic herbs to balance them.

  • How to take it

During the first 9 months: 3 capsules twice daily, about half an hour after a meal. After 9 months: 3 capsules once daily, about half an hour after a meal. Take with food, not on an empty stomach.

  • Timed to the classical organ clock

In traditional Chinese medicine, the stomach channel is said to be strongest at chen hour (7–9 AM) and the spleen channel at si hour (9–11 AM). Taking the capsules just after a morning and an evening meal follows that traditional schedule — and taking them with food is simply good practice for a botanical supplement.

Cooling Eye Patches: the overnight step

The patches are worn on the skin around the eye — never in the eye — and take a completely different route from the capsules. A nine-herb classical formula in a preservative-free patch, made in Japan, designed to stay comfortably in place for the 6–8 hours you're asleep.

  • Chrysanthemum

The best-known “brightening” herb in Chinese tradition, and a natural source of flavonoids — a widely studied class of plant antioxidants.

  • Cassia Seed

Traditionally paired with chrysanthemum in eye formulas. A natural source of anthraquinones.

  • Dendrobium

Described in the classics as a yin-nourishing herb. Provides dendrobium polysaccharides.

  • Horsetail

One of the richest botanical sources of naturally occurring silicon, alongside plant flavonoids.

  • Kudzu Root

Provides puerarin, the most extensively studied compound in kudzu root.

  • Schisandra

A classical five-flavor berry, valued in tradition for everyday resilience. Provides schisandrin.

  • Angelica Sinensis

A cornerstone of Chinese herbal tradition and a natural source of ferulic acid.

  • Chuanxiong

Paired with angelica in classical formulas for well over a thousand years. Provides tetramethylpyrazine.

  • Astragalus

Among the most widely used tonic herbs in Chinese tradition. Provides astragalus polysaccharides.

  • How to use them

The main use is overnight: apply before bed, sleep in them, remove in the morning — around 6–8 hours in place. Optional daytime use: after a long stretch at a screen, apply another 2–4 patches for as long as is comfortable. For external use on the skin around the eye only. Never place a patch in or on the eye itself.

  • Timed to the classical organ clock

In traditional Chinese medicine, the gallbladder channel is said to be strongest at zi hour (11 PM–1 AM) and the liver channel at chou hour (1–3 AM). Wearing the patches overnight is what puts the routine inside that traditional window — and overnight is simply when most people can keep them on undisturbed.

Herbal Soothing & Repair Eye Cream: for the hours in between

The cream sits on a different axis from the other two. It isn't a third formulation of the same idea — it's what you reach for when a patch isn't practical. In a meeting, on a flight, in makeup in front of a client: smooth a little around the eye area for cooling comfort, and carry on.

  • Dendrobium Oil

Hydrating, for skin that looks smoother and less parched.

  • Chrysanthemum Oil

The signature herb of the range, here for a calmer, more even-looking under-eye.

  • Cassia Seed Oil

Comforting on skin that feels tight or looks flushed.

  • Poria Oil

For a firmer-looking, more defined eye contour.

  • Angelica Root Oil

Helps the under-eye area look brighter and more awake over time.

  • Eucalyptus Leaf Oil

Fresh and reviving — the wake-up note in the formula.

  • Peppermint Oil

A naturally cooling botanical you feel the moment it goes on.

  • How to use it

Use whenever you want it — smooth a small amount around the eye area, avoiding contact with the eye itself. For external use only.

The Eye Care Trio — capsules, patches, and cream as one set

Why all three?

Each one covers a different part of the day

Capsules with meals · patches overnight · cream whenever you want it. Bought separately, any one of them leaves part of the routine uncovered — which is the whole reason we put them together as a set.

  • Capsules alone: the daily foundation is there, but nothing is applied around the eye itself.
  • Patches alone: the overnight step is covered, but there's nothing for the daytime and nothing taken internally.
  • Cream alone: comfort wherever you are, without either of the other two roles.

A standard day

Fitting the Trio into your day

This is how the routine is designed to run. After 9 months, capsules step down to once a day — after breakfast or after dinner, whichever suits you, about half an hour after the meal. Everything else stays the same.

01

30 min after breakfast · 3 capsules (dose 1)

The first of two daily doses. Taken with food, following the traditional morning window.

02

Afternoon · 2–4 daytime patches (optional)

For anyone who wants the patches during a long screen stretch. Entirely optional, and on your own schedule.

03

Meetings · travel · client days · eye cream

The take-anywhere option for the hours when patches aren't practical. Cooling on contact.

04

30 min after dinner · 3 capsules (dose 2)

The second daily dose, again with food — the evening half of the traditional schedule.

05

Before bed · apply patches and sleep in them

The main use. Around 6–8 hours in place, which is what puts them inside the classical zi/chou window.

06

Next morning · remove the patches

Take them off when you get up, and the day starts again at step one.

Nine, in Chinese thought

Across Chinese philosophy, medicine, and folk tradition, nine is the number of a cycle carried through to its end. We didn't choose a nine-month routine for a clinical reason — we chose it because that is the shape the tradition these formulas come from has always given to patient, unhurried practice.

Where “9” appears

Nine is the number of ultimate yang — “the Ninth-Fifth Supreme”, “nine returns to one”

Why the Trio is built around it

The real idea behind the Trio

Chrysanthemum, cassia seed, and angelica sinensis run through all three products — capsule, patch, and cream — which is what makes this a range rather than three unrelated purchases. The same botanical core, formulated three ways: one taken with meals, one worn on the skin overnight, one carried with you.

Why nine months?

Not for a clinical reason — for a traditional one. Nine months is roughly 270 days, or four dominant qi stages in the classical calendar: spring’s rising, summer’s growth, late summer’s ripening, autumn’s gathering. The three phases below are named after that cycle, and they describe the routine — not a promised result.

  1. Months 1–3

    Sprouting

    • Building the habit: capsules twice a day, patches overnight. Named for spring's first buds in the classical cycle.
  2. Months 4–6

    Growth

    • The routine is second nature by now, and most people have found their own daytime rhythm with the patches and cream.
  3. Months 7–9

    Harvest

    • The full traditional cycle, completed. From here, capsules step down to once a day for ongoing use.
